How do I create less grease in my sauce when I cook using a slow cooker/ crock pot?

Lately I have been noticing that when I use my crock pot to cook meat or any kind of protein the broth is always extremely greasy. Can anybody help me. Mostly I do brown the meat before the crock pot. I would like to use the broth for other dishes but I am concerned with the amount of fat. Is this normal. I feel terrible when I have to discard of the broth since its so greasy.
