Why do you need evidence for creation, why not just faith?

Why in the world do creationists latch onto "Creation Science" or Intelligent Design Creationism so vigorously that they demand that these non-scientific ideas be taught in a science clroom as science? It seems to me that it must be their very LACK in faith in creation that drives them to accept anything anybody with a slick "ministry" tells them is science (Dr. Dino comes to mind, but he is just one among scores of them).
